The owner-managed group of companies was founded in 1920 as a port company in Hamburg and has developed continuously over the decades. Today, Buss is diversified with the business segments port logistics, wind energy, gas and hydrogen, logistics real estate, shipping and investments. Around 500 employees are dedicated to our customers every day.

Port Logistics

The business area is the nucleus of the Buss Group, which was founded more than 100 years ago as a port company in Hamburg. Today, in addition to classic stevedoring services for general cargo ships, Buss also offers factory logistics and specialized employee leasing. Independently or in partnerships, Buss operates a total of four terminals.

Wind Energy

In this business area, Buss offers the assembly and maintenance of wind turbines. Our service includes inspection, maintenance and repair of turbine components and rotor blades. With the operation of terminals, Buss Energy also offers the entire basic port logistics for the construction of offshore wind farms.

Gas and Hydrogen

Buss is one of the first shareholders of an import terminal for liquefied natural gas (LNG) planned in Stade. The terminal is to be integrated into the existing industrial park by 2026. The hub will make an important contribution to the energy and mobility transition by also being able to supply the market with energies of the future such as hydrogen.

The logistics and logistics real estate business is now established in the market under the name Ixocon. Here, we offer customers tailored solution concepts for their individual space requirements. The focus is on the nationwide project development of new buildings as well as the conversion and revitalization of brownfield sites.

Shipping

Buss is a shareholder of the shipping company Leonhardt & Blumberg (L&B), founded in 1903. L&B acts as managing owner for a fleet of around 40 container ships in the feeder segment. All shipping activities are carried out centrally from Hamburg. The employment of the vessels is handled by Hanseatic Unity, a joint venture with three other shipping companies.

Buss Capital Invest is a conception and sales company for transport equipment with a focus on container investments. The business area offers investments to private and institutional investors in the form of registered bonds. The management has already initiated container investments amounting to around 2.5 billion euros.
